Week 4 - RSS and Newsreaders

This activity has loads of information to take in, I must say it took an unsavvy computer user like myself a while to really gel with this technology.

As with most things, persistence has its rewards and I believe I have selected several feeds that will be of interest to me. Being a time poor society, the benefits of using this technology will actually save me time in not having to wade through heaps of articles to get to the ones that I am actually prepared to read.

Of course a couple of my feed choices are for aviation and travel. I also selected a couple of feeds for The Herald Sun newspaper, I could check these feeds while on holidays to keep up to date with what is happening at home. It is certainly an improvement on wasting time at an internet cafe to wade through all the pages on web sites to get what you want. Just click and your selections are available to read instantly.

I have an account with Newsgator, which also offers its members some fun stuff to check out as well. There is a feed called Quotes of the day, this one I quite liked, hope you like it too!!

Week 3 - Flickr

What a great site Flickr is, I have spent about a week playing and searching subjects of interest. Well, ok, I admit I haven't strayed very far from my Aviation and Ansett subject but I have had a lot of fun. I even posted a comment to a group discussion and received an answer, that was pretty cool I must say. Cyber space is getting smaller all the time!!
This photo was taken where I used to work, I would look a this sad site every day. I have almost the exact same shot, however mine is not as good so I am happy to use this photo taken by Speedy_MSD.
As a lousy photographer, I find it fascinating that people of a like minded interest could have already taken that perfect shot that I somehow managed to wreck!! What I really find fabulous is by just keying in a search term, something similar may pop up. Sensational.

I can see were traditional photo albums may be almost a thing of the past with this fantastic tool at our disposal.

My next project will be uploading some of my ok photos to share with other Ansett nuts out there.

If you haven't tried yet, have a go. Leave yourself plenty of time as it certainly is a time waster!!
